Accessory photography + The Foreign Archives
In addition to adjusting to life in NY and updating Shop Thriftionary I've been working on some cool side projects:
1.) I'm in the midst of a photography internship with a Brooklyn based fashion & portrait photographer, and it's challenged me to work on my skills. I'd say that I prefer taking black and white shots of buildings and other man made structures- arranging shapes within the photo frame, but this internship is pushing me to explore other avenues (like taking portraits and creating stories and pitches etc.) while maintaining my "graphic sensibility"... hmm...

2.) Just met this awesome chick named Asha Maddali who has madd skills (and concert ticket stubs)! She operates an indie jewelry company here in NYC that specializes in brass accessories and funky house goods. She's designed for Free People, wholesales to a variety of prominent vendors, and has a permanent home at Marjory Warren boutique on E 9th too!
How are these two random bits of information connected you ask?
I'm using some of my new photography skills to shoot jewelry for Asha's new website The Foreign Archives. Woot! The plan is to have everything on a new bright-white background... which is trickier than it sounds. I'm Super excited to see how everything turns out, and hopefully soon you will see all of her new pieces shot by yours truly on the new website!
In the meantime you can check out her full spread of goodies here.
As you can see she specializes in mostly brass accessories, but she's probably best known for her gorgeous head chains.
Oh also! We are preparing for The Foreign Archives pop up shop in NYC
September 21st: Fabworks 75 E 4th St from 11am-8pm
There will be jewelry as well as a bunch of other fun handmade items created by Asha, myself and friends! Stop by if you're in NYC
Hope you guys are having a lovely Wednesday!
Who's pinning and live streaming New York fashion week shows at work right now?!

OOTD Hers & His: Sequins + Plaid + Dots
Hi guys! Here's what seems like a long overdue "OOTD" post of Mr. Thrifter and me.
Yesterday, I ran some errands, prepped supplies for a DIY project, had to go into the city and such. I wanted to be as comfortable as possible in the heat, but not quite jeans and a t-shirt comfortable. Instead I went for the same idea with a beaded and sequined top. I kept it pretty simple as you can see.

I wanted to be as comfortable as possible in the heat, but not quite jeans and a t-shirt comfortable. Instead I went for the same idea with a beaded and sequined top. I kept it pretty simple as you can see.
I should also mention that I had about 10 minutes to get dressed hence the simplicity of this outfit.
You know I like to wear a necklace at the very least, but there was no time!
You might remember these earrings from one of my last Value Village trips in Atlanta
Here's an up-close look at the bead and sequined top.
Not pictured is the Etienee Aigner belt that I wore. Its just a skinny belt that's about the same color as my penny loafers and has a brushed gold buckle. The one from this post.

ear bobs- thrifted, Value Village
vintage Jones New York top- thrifted
plaid, leather Carryland purse- Mom's closet (Thanks Mom!)
Mr. Thrifter took the photos of me, not too bad right? :)
It seems like everyone is searching for Dooney and Bourke bags at the thriftstore, but I'm always drawn to Carryland. This green plaid one is my favorite! My mom gave it to me while I was in college, or should I say finally released it to me while I was in college. Carryland is one of those brands I can tell she really liked because she kept a few of them stashed in hat boxes at the top of her closet (where she thought I wouldn't find them). Lol!
Mr. Thrifter was also keeping the outfit basic, just wearing his favorite shoes and one of his favorite ties. Comfort is often key in a new environment.

button down- thrifted, Goodwill
grey trousers- thrifted, Goodwill
I can't quite tell what material these pants are made of because they're tagless. They aren't polyester though; he has an allergy to polyester. So, I've concluded that they are either vintage or part of a bespoke suit that he got lucky to find at Goodwill in his size.
It was Mr. Thrifter's second day at the new job, so I was lucky to get these shots in as tired as we both were! We met up at a train station after work and walked home together. (Now that was quite a hike.) On the way a guy stopped us to ask for directions and it really shocked me how quickly I re-directed him without thinking twice. It seems like people are always lost in New York, but contrary to popular belief there's always someone around to kindly help you find your way.

Shop Thriftionary! It has arrived...
Hey guys!
As you all know I've just moved to Brooklyn, New York! (Whoop, whoop!)
And lately I've been working on my online store!
Nearly all of what you will see is either vintage or handmade with a few exceptions for unique pieces that I really enjoy.
The photos below represent a very small part of what's already available on Shop Thriftionary. I have a bout 50 items listed so far, and believe me that is not even half, so changes will be made often!
Thus far, sizes range from 0-16, because I haven't gotten around to listing clothing 16+ or purses yet. SO much to do! You can view my entire assortment thusfar here:
Thriftionary.storenvy.com
and on Etsy
www.etsy.com/shop/Thriftionary
and on Etsy

I've been playing around with the storenvy shop as well as one on Etsy, and I'm not sure which one I like better. I just listed a couple of items there for the first time a few days ago, so I can't make much of a comparison yet. Which site do you prefer as a shopper or seller?
